WiP is part of the Fresh Meet Market, Central and Eastern Europe’s only short film market, now held for the second time. The initiative is unique in the region: currently, there is no other hub that supports live-action short films at this stage of production.
This is perhaps the most sensitive phase of the creative process: the film has already been shot, but post-production is not yet complete. The aim of the Fresh Meet Market and WiP is to give projects momentum at this critical stage by providing connections, professional feedback, and concrete support. While script development opportunities are widely available, platforms that focus specifically on the completion phase are much rarer.
The effectiveness of WiP is well illustrated by last year’s winner, Something Wild (dir. Zsuzsanna Konrád), which went on to win the Grand Prize at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
Precisely because decision-making can be especially difficult at this stage, we have extended the application deadline to April 24. However, please note that this is truly the final opportunity — it’s not worth missing out.
Especially since the winner will receive valuable awards: the program includes a significant prize package, with Gaston Studio offering a €5,000 sound post-production package, and Foxus Fox providing €3,000 worth of color grading. In addition, the winning film will have the opportunity to develop a comprehensive distribution strategy in direct collaboration with Gorilla Film Distribution. This partnership covers the entire release cycle, from a tailored festival strategy to strategic VOD distribution.
