2025 marked a milestone year for Hungarian animation. As Guest of Honour at Annecy, Hungary was present at several high-profile industry events, including the MIFA Partner Pitch, where five Hungarian projects were showcased to international decision-makers. Hunimation 2026 builds on this momentum, aiming to support the strongest Hungarian animation projects with professional preparation and international exposure.
About the Call
Hunimation’s open call is looking for the most promising Hungarian animation projects. Beyond selection, the programme offers development support, mentoring, and pitch training. Selected projects will be presented at the II. Hungarian Animation Pitching Forum in Budapest, from where up to five projects will be chosen to represent Hungary at the Annecy MIFA Hunimation Pitch.
Who Can Apply?
The call is open to all Hungarian animation creators and producers, with no restrictions on genre or format. Eligible projects include:
- animated short films
- animated feature films
- series
- immersive and VR projects
Applicants may submit multiple projects, and applications can be submitted by either the producer or the director.
Key Information
- All application materials must be submitted in English
- Materials must be uploaded as one single PDF file (maximum 50 MB)
- Visual materials are mandatory (trailers, teasers, concept art, etc.)
- Both the pitch forum and the Annecy presentations will be held in English
Selection Process
Projects will be selected in two stages:
- Pre-selection, during which up to 12 projects will be invited to pitch in Budapest
- Live pitch at the Hunimation Pitching Forum, where the professional jury and the audience will select a maximum of 5 projects to pitch at Annecy
Professional Preparation and Support
A core element of the Hunimation programme is targeted professional preparation. Selected teams will take part in personal consultations, development sessions, and pitch training to ensure their projects are presented at Annecy at the highest possible international standard.
